If we feel our income and our lifestyle is dependent on something outside of ourselves ae" such as whether we will be promoted, demoted, or even let go ae" isn't it hard to be truly happy ae or feel free? Isn't it hard to experience personal freedom when decisions such as how you spend your days or how much money you'll be paid are decisions that aren't your own? My experience has been that those that say they are aeoehappy enoughae with these situations in their life, in most cases, have simply become numb to another possibility and they have given up their personal self-determination. Isn't it just human nature for us to follow the path of least resistance ae" to just aeoego with the flowae? But maybe we need to ask ourselves aeoeif i have to be on some path, wouldn't i rather pursue it having a strong advantage? Rrather than traveling the path handicapped?ae napoleon hill in his classic book, think and grow rich, assures us that the 13 principles he revealed in his book were gathered from the life experiences of more than 500 people who actually accumulated riches in huge amounts ae" people who began in poverty, with but little education, without influence. The principles worked for those individuals. They will work for us. Napoleon hill says each person that applies those principles has an insurmountable advantage over those who have not learned to apply the principles in their life.
Our current economic situation has left so many people feeling they are competing against companies, individuals, circumstances ae or simply time. Regardless ae hill's principles give us a unique advantage. It is an advantage that results in greater productivity, achievement, wealth, fulfillment and personal freedom. We are free when we are in control of our situation, rather than having situations in our life control us. Napoleon hill tells us in think and grow rich: aeoeif the first plan which you adopt does not work successfully, replace it with a new plan. If this new plan fails to work, replace it in turn with still another and so on until you find a plan which does work. Right here is the point at which the majority of people meet with failure because of their lack of persistence in creating new plans to take the place of those which fail. Just keep this fact in mind and remember, when your plans fail, that temporary defeat is not permanent failure. It may only mean that your plans have not been sound.
Build other plans. Start over again. Temporary defeat should mean only one thing ae" the certain knowledge that there is something wrong with your plan. Millions of people go through life in misery and poverty because they lack a sound plan through which to accumulate wealth. And no one is ever whipped until that person quits ae" in his or her own mind. This fact will be repeated many times because it is so easy to aeoetake the countae at the first sign of defeat. No follower of this philosophy (think and grow rich) can reasonably expect to accumulate a fortune without experiencing temporary defeat. When defeat comes, accept it as a signal that your plans are not sound, rebuild those plans, and set sail once more toward your coveted goal. If you give up before your goal has been reached, you are a quitter. A quitter never wins ae" and a winner never quits. Lift this sentence out, write it on a piece of paper in letters an inch high, and place it where you will see it every night before you go to sleep and every morning before you go to work.ae dave ramsey, an american financial author, radio host, and television personality featured on many media outlets including the oprah winfrey show, 60 minutes and the early show on cvs and the fox business network, said in his town hall for hope campaign, aeoeif you're tired of hearing the doom and gloom that's filling the airwaves, then turn off the noise, and tune in to hope! If you refuse to participate in the recession and reject the fear that's being spread nationwide, then there are three things you can do to make a difference. Don't let politics and the economy just happen around you!!
1. Get off the couch and take action. You are the cure. No one else is going to solve your problems for you ae" thataes your job. Find out how you can take control of your money and turn back the fear in your community.
2. If you're sick and tired of the aeoeloser talkae that has permeated the media, the water cooler and the internet then stop listening to the garbage, and start speaking a word of hope!
3. Start giving. Learning how to give ae" whether it's money, time or support ae" changes your whole mindset. If you want to win with money and change the nation, you've got to learn how to give again. On april 23, over one million people in more than 6,000 host locations joined together to get real answers about the economy and turn back the tide of fear in their communities. Way to go america! But town hall for hope isn't over yet!ae millions of people have found that their financial aeoeplansae have failed them. Remember the words of napoleon hill: aeoewhen defeat comes, accept it as a signal that your plans are not sound, rebuild those plans, and set sail once more. Temporary defeat should mean only one thing ae" the certain knowledge that there is something wrong with your plan. Personal freedom ae it isn't about freedom. It's about where freedom comes from.
Garibaldi - inventor of modern warfare.
Winston Churchill planned writing a biography of Giuseppe Garibaldi, and not surprisingly, since this Nobel Laureate for Literature awarded for his masterly military histories and biographies owed much to the inspiration and military invention of the Hero of Two Continents.
