Great Biography Books

Question: Good books for a picky reader?

I usually hate fiction books and would rather read a biography about a great group or singer or movie star. Any fiction books have to catch my interest right away and are weird or dark. Like Edgar Allan Poe, I really liked his stories. But I'm looking for something more modern.
And, are there any good biographies out there?

Answer: I just finished "A Fine Balance" by Rohinton Mistry. It is fiction, but with great doses of reality in its most cruel form. It is a great book and I would recommend it.
