Kids Biography Martin Luther King

Question: Does anyone know a free download ebook or free printable on Martin Luther King?
I have Martin Luther King stuff – but none of it “really cool” – we can watch the speech videos, read biographies off the internet, looked at maps, talked about Rosa Parks and Ruby Bridges – but I was wondering if there were any interesting kids books out there on Martin Luther King – or fiction books on his time that aren’t too graphic – and if there’s free ebooks or printable books that’s even better! Anything for an 8 year old girl that likes to listen to chapter books like Nancy Drew, Babysitter Club, Animal Ark, Magic Tree House, Box Car Kids, etc? She didn’t take much to the Dear America diary series. Maybe a book on a kids eye view of the times?

Biography Children’s Literature

Question: I don’t think this will happen, but do you think the Internet will ever completely replace libraries?
Of course, I think we can all agree that the reference department of libraries is pretty much a ghost town nowadays, since, as far as pure factual information, just about all of that can be found on the Internet. But I think libraries are still very much alive, and always will be, in areas such as children’s literature (children’s story time with librarians reading picture books to children), fiction books being checked out by people who don’t want to buy them, and nonfiction (such as history books, autobiography and biography, geography and travel books, etc.). I don’t think a day will EVER come when people only want to read over the computer and nowhere else. What do YOU think?
Answer: Libraries are not only about books but movies and CDs and access to computers and wifi
and libraries are used as meeting places.
Most people like to hold books and they don’t crash. ebooks are likely to take place of textbooks and paperbacks but people will still want dead tree books.(After what happened to Kindle 1984 imagine what changes could be made to the Bible or any other book instantly. Kindle could have the South win the US civil war)
GPS and Google Maps have greatly reduce the use of paper maps.

Columbus Biography For Kids

Question: Biography?People?
I was wondering any good people to do for a biography( I don’t want people like George Washington or Columbus) ? Someone who’s kid of interesting? Maybe an entertainer?
Answer: How about Ibn al-Haytham? He was a medieval Muslim scholar who overcame bouts of mental illness to develop the scientific method two hundred years before the Europeans learned of it—by reading his books. His story is fascinating and inspirational. He is a positive role model, and the background of his life will help you understand a little bit about Muslim history and culture. The only full biography of him is “Ibn al-Haytham: First Scientist” by Bradley Steffens. It was just chosen by California Readers to be part of the 2008 California Collection for students. You can find reviews of the book and a sample chapter at http://www.ibnalhaytham.net/ Good luck!
