Henry Ford Principles

Henry Ford Principles

Question: Can anyone help me with this history question?

In what ways do the stories of Alfred Sloan and Henry Ford illustrate the principle that the customer is always right? How have each of these two leaders influenced modern business practices?

Answer: Henry Ford had absolutely no interest in customers at all.

He set out to make a car as cheaply as possible and readily available for the masses. you either bought it or you did not.For most people what it offered for the price was something thay could not refuse so they bought them in the millions.

His most famous quote was"You can have it in any colour you like as long as it is black" does not sound like he really cared much for the customer then.

Obviously as more people adopted his process line techniques and competitors came on the scene they would have started listening to the customer but initially he did not care.

It is a bit like Microsoft, Gates does not care that his products are full of bugs , that there are security flaws and that his product is grossly overpriced, he has little competition to make an impact on his philosophy.
