Henry’s Wife, Clara Ford

Henry Ford met his wife, Clara Ford (formerly Clara Bryant) when he was 24 years old. Back on his father’s farm, it was at a New Year’s Even party at a nearby farmhouse that Henry Ford met his wife, then Clara Bryant. Clara was a friend of Ford’s sister.

Henry Ford’s wife Clara Ford had many nice qualities but to Henry Ford, she had one quality that surpassed all others.

Clara Ford was actually interested in his dream about the horseless carriage, and she encouraged him to pursue it. Henry Ford married her and then they moved to Detroit where he could be closer to the tools and resources he would need.

Henry and Clara Ford shared a common interest, which is one of the greatest indicators of a happy life. Clara and her husband lived happily together in their home near Detroit until they died.

Henry Ford’s Son Edsel

Soon after moving to Detroit, Henry Ford and his wife Clara Ford had their first and only child. Henry and Clara Ford had a son whom they named Edsel after Henry Ford’s best childhood friend.

Shortly after Edsel was born, Henry Ford rushed into the kitchen one day to show Clara Ford his first one-cylinder gasoline engine. It was the first step Henry Ford achieved in the creation of his horseless carriage.
