Julius Caesar Influence On Rome

Question: Since all of the cultures in the region had 'sons of god' do you think a small band of Jews were just jealous?

and decided to make their own?

Heracles, son of Zeus (Greece)
Julius Caesar, son of Jupiter (Rome)
Horus, Son of Osiris (Egypt)
Dionysus, son of Zeus (Greece)
Apollo, son of Zeus (Greece)

After all, these major empires had all owned Judea at one point or another and influenced their culture. Even Persia and Babylon defeated Judea and influenced the Jews with their stories of God-men.

Obviously, it all became too much for some of the Hellenized Jews, who turned their failed spiritual/insurrectionist leader into a Hebrew God-Man, in true Mediterranean style.

Funny thing is, it never caught on in Judea, probably because the Hebrew scriptures actually forbade adopting the religious practices of the surrounding cultures.

Funny.

Answer: The Jews never had their "son of god". They never claimed Jesus. The leading Jews, or the church of that day, persuaded the government to have him stopped, because they couldn't stop Jesus themselves because the people liked him. They let their belief in God turn into just another religion and they didn't want God into the picture. It seems that a lot of people of this day have been turned against the church of our days religion, and they think that's what Jesus is all about.
