What is the role of manipulation in the film and how can you compare this to Julius Caesar

Answer: “The Manchurian Candidate” – excellent movie, better with the Frank Sinatra version than the Denzel Washington version, but I digress.

The main characters were all brainwashed as POWs, in effect reprogramming them to perform behaviors foreign to them.

When the programming started to intrude on their subconscious minds, causing the nightmares, the protagonist (Frank/Denzel’s character) realizes he’s being manipulated to say and do things that aren’t true.

The assassin in the movie, programmed to a greater extent, is being manipulated into killing the party nominee, and can be controlled through the use of a deck of playing cards.

(First movie is set in the Korean War aftermath.)

Julius Caesar manipulated the Senate to support various activities of his, and, when the manipulation eventually failed, caused his death by assassination (Et tu, Brute? – even the man who he thought of as his best friend was in on the plot.)

In the following scene in the play, Marc Anthony goes on to manipulate the crowd into accepting the assassination, with all of the “honorable man” statements about Brutus, raising the anger level in the crown at the funeral to a frenzy.

Question: Is history bunk? (Henry Ford Quote)?

“History is more or less bunk. It’s tradition. We don’t want tradition. We want to live in the present, and the only history that is worth a tinker’s damn is the history that we make today.” (Chicago Tribune, 1916).

I want an in depth view of Why history is important to society.

Answer: First off You are mistankly taking the quote and running with it rather than examining it’s context. The quote was not about history itself but about the current times (1916) and how Ford felt WW1 was being fought in part because of greviances from far past and not because of its present time. An example (all be it a bad one) would be if some group that had one point been treated horribly wrong lets say Jews, blacks, or Native Americans started a war now because of what had hapened to them in a different time. Some people would feel what had happened to them had been a long time ago and therefore the history did not matter.
To the second part of your question of why history is important it is because history is what makes the present. think of it this way, take a moment in your life, and imagine it as if it had never happened, lets say a move when you were young, that changed your life, a marriage that led to children without those kids your life is different right? So now take that context and apply it to the world if that war had not been fought who would be in charge?, If that philosopher (lets say Confuscious) we might not have Buddhisim, etc. Do you see what i am saying? Another thing about history is it is the only science that encompasses all other fields of study, in math we deal with srtictly numbers yet in historical math we learn how people came to use their particualr counting system and why, when it changed, etc. In Literature we study the use of words to tell stories and define what those words mean, in history we relate how those words could and would be said because of the time frame it was written… History is populary taught as a social science and not one of the three R’s (reading, writing, arithmetic) yet without history we have none of those. History is not learning facts about who did what when and how and why but it is the study of when how and why we are now.

JACKSON, Mississippi (AP) — A jury on Thursday convicted reputed Klansman James Ford Seale of kidnapping and conspiracy in the 1964 deaths of two black teenagers in southwest Mississippi, grisly drownings that went unpunished before federal prosecutors re-examined the forgotten case.

Seale, 71, faces life in prison in the deaths of Charles Eddie Moore and Henry Hezekiah Dee. The 19-year-olds disappeared from Franklin County on May 2, 1964, and their bodies were found later in the Mississippi River.

i seem to cant find any anti semitic quotes by him. i guess people dont like to document or talk about him hating the jews.

Answer: I wasn’t able to find many quotes either: this may be because Ford didn’t interact with many people–reportedly he was largely inaccessible to all but a trusted few, and access to him was controlled through his personal secretary, Ernest Liebold.

Ford bought a failing newspaper, “The Dearborn Independent”, and required all Ford dealers to subscribe to it: at its peak, it had 700,000 subscribers. It was through a writer for the “Independent”, William Cameron, that Ford’s anti-Jewish views were promulgated, with Liebold reportedly approving all Cameron’s articles prior to publication.

The “Independent” published a series of anti-Semitic articles later collected in book form as “The International Jew”, as well as the notorious “Protocols of the Elders of Zion”, which claimed to be the minutes of meetings of Zionists bent on world domination but was later exposed as a forgery by the imperial Russian secret police.

Ford is quoted as having said, “I know who caused the war (World War I)—the German-Jewish bankers! I have the evidence here. Facts! I can’t give out the facts now, because I haven’t got them all yet, but I’ll have them soon.”

Hitler was an admirer of Ford and “The International Jew”, of which he had a personally annotated copy. Ford was the only American mentioned in Hitler’s “Mein Kampf”: “Every year makes them [the Jews] more and more the controlling masters of the producers in a nation of one hundred and twenty millions; only a single great man, Ford, to their fury, still maintains full independence. ”

Ford apparently believed (a) that Jews controlled world finance, (b) that these international bankers were somehow linked w/ “Bolsheviks” (also presumably Jewish) in the labor movement, and (c) that Jewish resistance to becoming “Americanized” (i.e. assimilated) was subversive, as indicated in the following quotes:

“Wherever Jewish tendencies are permitted to work unhindered, the result is not ‘Americanization,’ nor ‘Anglicization’ nor any other distinctive nationalism, but a strong and ruling reversion back to essential ‘Judaization.”

“One of the strongest causes militating against the full Americanization of several millions of Jews in this country is their belief – instilled in them by their religious authorities – that they are ‘chosen,’ that this land is theirs, that the inhabitants are idolators, that the day is coming when the Jews will be supreme.”

In 1927 a Jewish attorney sued Ford and the “Independent” for defamation. Ford did not testify due to an auto accident, but his reputation was severely damaged; and although the case ended in a mistrial, Ford apologized, closed the “Independent” and made an out-of-court settlement. However, he publicly expressed enthusiasm for Nazi Germany and accepted a medal from them in 1938.

I’ve attached links to some articles that will give you much more detail regarding “The International Jew”, the “Protocols”, etc. Although these are generally not direct quotes from Ford himself, they are publications that he paid to have printed and distributed.

Most of the films we watch tend to be produced by big companies and famous film makers that manage to get very impressive budgets of many millions of dollars. But only few people know about the other movies like independent films.

Most people would think that if those movies are not produced by the major studios it is because they are not of good quality, which is not true. A lot of independent films are of good quality. Actually, it is not because a movie is made by a major film studio that it is a good film. So it is not because a film had a low budget that it will not succeed and be a great story to watch.

It does not mean that because actors in independent films are not all well known they are not good actors. On the contrary, some of them are very good actors and play well in those independent films.

Nowadays, you can easily watch movies online legally on various sites. It is interesting to see that most free movies available to watch on those sites actually are independent films made with low budgets. So just find a site and catch up on independent films. You will certainly find some very good ones that will capture your interest.

It’s long been known that an Academy Award is strongly correlated with money and fame for the recipients. A new study shows that the Award recipients are also better fit physically, tend to live longer and have more kids than most people.

An explanation may be that the Award is an indication of certain superior physical traits of the winner. “This is a clever study and a fun dataset”, said the evolutionary biologist Michael Ryan at the University of Texas.

The Award showed a strong correlation with the life span. It was a matter of course to research whether Oscar awards are also correlated with reproductive fitness, said the behavioral ecologist Mark Hauber at New Zealand’s University of Auckland.

Hauber looked into the demographics for more than ninety actors between 1929 and 2001: age, how many times they were married, number of children, Academy Awards. The result showed that male winners have an average of nearly four kids, Marlon Brando being the front rank with eleven children. Concurrently ordinary Americans have an average of 1.2 children. Hauber called the Academy Awards a signal of superior quality to potential mates.

University of Texas’s Ryan also agrees with two of Hauber’s explanations: actors who win Oscars already have features that appeal to potential mates; and Oscars gives them more money and time for kids.

However Hauber’s theory was challenged by professor Mike Wade of Indiana University. Wade says that the signal is false because of “the immense political and social machinery mobilized by the movie studios to promote their products”. He also thinks Hauber should have compared Award winners with actors who were just nominated Winners live longer than actors who are just nominated, according to Science Magazine.

Actresses who are Oscar winners have an average of 1.5 children, which is slightly more than average American women, found a new study from the Journal of Ethology. The study did not count whether the actresses were divorced or remarried.

A visit to one of the French Riviera’s perfume factories is next on the list about 30 minutes from Monaco on our way to Nice. The demonstration they do is very good and the prices are also very good so some can’t resist the temptation. From here we take a beautiful drive along the Moyenne Corniche to Nice, queen of the Riviera.

This is one of those leisurely days on tour where you have the choice of participating in some activities or spending the whole day free. Some choose to have a sleep in and about half decided to come at 9 o’clock to the little hilltop village of St Paul De Vence.

If you didn’t know about this place you might drive right by it and never realize what you just missed. It is one of France’s most beautiful villages with cobble stoned streets, artists and shops. We walked through the village to the other side for views over the French Riviera coast and up to the maritime alps. From here everyone is free to filter back through the village at their own pace to shop or take in a coffee.

Back to Nice by 11.30 for free time to shop until 3pm when we take a spectacular drive on the 3 Corniche drives along the coast linking Nice with Monaco. We stopped to visit the hilltop coastal village of Eze which is similar to St Paul but with much better views. For those who came with me all the way to the top to the old destroyed castle, they were rewarded with spectacular views all the way along the French Riviera coastline.

Choosing an acting class that is attended or taught by working actors is key, as you’ll be learning from individuals who are doing what you aim to do as a professional. Often, you can learn by simply observing; however, asking questions regarding their journey can be beneficial as well.

If you’re concerned about being intrusive or taking up too much of an actor’s time, one solution is choosing an acting school that offers sanctioned opportunities to learn from actors. For example: At Stuart Rogers Studios in North Hollywood, acting classes are offered alongside audition classes, interactive workshops, and business skills training. In New York, studios that offer similar opportunities are likely to be available.

Get some experience. Anywhere! Community theatre groups are tried-and-true stomping grounds for aspiring actors; those who aim to work in cinema are known to test the waters as extras and walk-ons. Finally, a great “end of the world” type movie. At least that is my opinion. You can download 2012 and be one of the first people to experience what is going to be an absolutely incredible movie! 2012 was directed by the same guy who did “Independence Day” and “The Day After Tomorrow”. Because of that, and the super-star line up of stars that are starring in this movie, it is going to be one amazing film.
