Question: Does this mean that, by the transitive property, America started WWII?
http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/GERmein.htm
“One writer who influenced Hitler while in prison was Henry Ford, the American car-manufacturer. Hitler read Ford’s autobiography, My Life and Work, and a book of his called The International Jew. In the latter Ford claimed that there was a Jewish conspiracy to take over the world. Hitler also approved of Ford’s hostile views towards communism and trade unions.”
So, Henry Ford was Hitler’s inspiration to start the war. So, America, does this mean that we are to blame for the Holocaust?
I mean, you know, if you’re still all against Muslims because of 9/11, then you would be a hypocrite to think otherwise. :3
Answer: Henry Ford Sr. was also a long-time supporter of Adolf Hitler. Ford had quite a history of involvement with ultra-conservative and fascist causes.
During World War I, Ford wrote a series of viciously anti-Semitic articles for The Dearborn Independent, which he then published in book form as a hate-filled diatribe against Jews called “The International Jew: The World’s Foremost Problem”, which basically blamed Jews for all of the problems of the world. The International Jew is still reprinted and used and much admired by neo-Nazis and White Supremacists even today.
In the early 1920s, this book was published in Germany under the title The Eternal Jew. It reportedly had a major influence on Adolf Hitler, and he almost certainly plagiarized parts of it in Mein Kampf. The admiration was mutual. Following Hitler’s assumption of power, Ford sent Hitler 50,000 Deutsch Marks every year on Hitler’s birthday. Ford’s anti-Semitic views were well known during the period that the Buchmanites bragged of Ford’s support of their movement. For more information on Ford’s Nazi connections, see Who Financed Hitler?, by James and Suzanne Pool. New York: Dial Press, 1978.

Question: places to visit and things to do in Michigan during the long weekend?
been here for 9 years and covered pretty much everything, any sugggestions beyond the following the list of stuff that we have already done:
henry ford museum, holland, tahquamenon falls, sue sault marie, mackinac island, putin bay para sailing, ann arbor summer festival, detroit river front.outdoor activity suggestions are also good.
Answer: I love spending the 4th in Saugatuck. Quaint shops in a village which is non-commercial with many art galleries as well. Douglas is just 5 min away and it has even more galleries plus, if you like to go antiquing, they have one heck of a large antique store. Saugatuck holds an art fair on the 4th; don’t know about Sunday though.
Grand Rapids (45 min from Saugatuck) has the Gerald Ford museum plus the Fred Meijer Gardens which is so much more than gardens with many, many sculptures. It has a great inexpensive restaurant with many glass sculptures on the ceiling by Chilhuly. There is also an enormous Chilhuly sculpture in the large hall. I was amazed to read that the Gardens are on the list of the top 10 sites which people must see before they die. Grand Rapids also has a very nice zoo and our downtown, which is beautiful, is very lively at night. We also have the VanAndel Arena – you can find out who is performing and get tickets in advance.
PS: If you haven’t been to Traverse City please go. I’m going with a friend in October for a festival plus we’ll be enjoying the 3 hr drive there to see the fall foliage. The drive alone is worth it; it’s easy to feel as though you’re driving in a never-ending forest – it’s incredibly beautiful.
