Question: !!!!!Please help with Julius Caesar!!!!!?
I have to write an essay but i cant figure out what the prompt wants me to do. Here it is:
Many novels and plays explore the dilemma of a character faced with either a morally ambiguous situation or the discrepancy between a personal desire and public duty. In a well-written essay, examine how Brutus is this type of character, and analyze how his dilemma provides the foundation for the tragic plot of the play.
If you could break this down, that would be great! Some ideas would also be great.
ThanksAnswer: Brutus' situation is morally ambiguous because he is Caesar's friend. Even saving Caesar's life. but now he must choose between his friend, and the republic of Rome which has fallen to Caesar. he struggles with the decision because he knows that Rome should not be ruled by one man, and its strength lies in the senate. but in deciding this he realizes that he will have to kill his best friend to save his country. its tragic because Brutus is so caught up in his duties that he puts his country before his friends, and it kills him.
