Question: Did the Mongol warriors under Genghis Khan sleep on their horses during long march?

I have heard that the Mongol horde can travel as much as 100 miles a day, so I guess they must have travelled continuously without stopping.
Answer: Certainly that is possible. Remember warrior had a string of horses they switched between. Horses can run 10 miles an hour x ten hours(divided by five horses at 2 hours each)=100 miles.
Mongols were trained to endure great hardships, and eat and drink sparingly when necessary. For example, they put raw meat under their saddles at the start of each the day, and ate the tenderized, warmed meat at night.
Yes, all horse soldiers throughout the centuries learned to doze on horseback during forced marches. Not sleeping, but a kind of rest.

Question: Do the Japanese control the weather by calling on the powers of the ancient Samurai gods to defeat an enemy?

Throughout history, the Japanese people have seemed to harbor an ability to affect the weather against their enemies.

The ancient Japanese people might have believed in thousands of Gods around them.
They also feared anger of those Gods.
So they thanked the Gods for foods they got from nature
and prayed for the productiveness of grain.
But it doesn't mean they had such an ability as you asked.
If they had had such abilities, they could have avoided tragedies in Hiroshima and Nagasaki and Empire of Japan still existed even now.
Genghis Khan must have not had little Information about the climate of east Asia.
Needless to say, I don't have such an ability.

I was wondering, what are some successful "scare tactics" employed by armies since antiquity [i.e- ever since the beginning of warfare]? It would be very helpful if you could provide a link to a website or websites talking about such tactics, but please also give a list of scare tactics that have worked well throughout the ages, especially ones used by famous warlords such as Genghis Khan, Atilla the Hun, Vlad the Impaler, and any other famous warlords. i don't think it sounds much like Hitler, but i could certainly be wrong. its fairly common that evil-sounding quotes will be misattributed to historical villains. for example, many think Stalin said "one death is a tragedy, one million is a statistic." when it was actually said by some obscure German writer.

Im doing a "WANTED" poster for my social studies class, im in 7th grade. I need facts that say Genghis Khan was not a good ruler. Things like how many people he killed and such. Thanks!

Answer: There's no wrong way to answer this question, because what makes the best or worst ruler is entirely a matter of culture and opinion. Some people would see the fact that he killed millions as the reason he was fit to be ruler, so all you have to do is find any facts about him and express them in a way that sounds bad to your audience. That's how politics work.
Here's a fact to get you started. He had over 500 wives and so many children that in some parts of asia as much as 8% of population still has alleles from his y chromosome. He has as about 16 million descendants living today, or .5% of the world's male population.

When you're trying to create a video game, it's quite easy to get immersed in the details and forget that it ultimately should be fun for those playing it. In this article I will try to remind you what people are looking for in a video game.

Whenever you feel annoyed by the programming problems you encounter, remember that people will play your game and they will have a great time doing it.

1. Don't forget that the main character is represented by the player. Here's a tip for you. When they play something, people want to feel in control. If you make a game that allows people to feel in control, than 50% of the game is done already. I'm not saying that you should make a game that is too easy. I'm just saying that someone that runs home to play your game, he needs a game that will allow him to be in control. Your game should have a good game play and the result should come natural.

2. You know what KISS means, right? KISS means Keep It Simple Stupid. While it's hard to make a game, people don't need to know it and they don't want to. The game play shouldn't be influenced in any way by your difficulties in creating the game. Your game should always be easy to start, navigate through and to play it. Don't make a game that a preschooler will be able to finish, but at least don't make it so hard that only some people can finish it. We don't want a manual with a hundred pages to explain how to play it. Only a small part of the players will bother to read a big manual. The rest will quit the game if it's too difficult, instead of going through the manual.

3. Make sure the game has enough action in it. If the game has plenty of action in it, the players will be more interested in finishing it. As they invest more time in the game, they will find it more entertaining. When the player does something in the game, they should get a reaction in return that will make them want to play more.

4. Work on the game's story. I hate it when I play games that have no good story and I don't know what my purpose is there. Humans always need a purpose to inspire them. If you don't have it in a game, your game play will suffer and it will not be as interesting. Players should be given every opportunity to enjoy your game, so work on the story.

5. The game should have enough eye candy. Players shouldn't be distracted by the graphics. Their game play needs to be enhanced by the graphics of the game. It should let them want more.

6. Bring realism into the game. It's OK to have a fantasy game, but the cool part is that they feel real. If you're not familiar with the type of game or the backstory, it's harder to get into it.

Question: HISTORY- PEOPLE LIKE GENGHIS KHAN?

Sorry for caps, but are there people in history that are incredibly interesting like Genghis khan? The way he was so brave and aggressive, he was a incredible man even if he was cruel. I mean back then, everyone was. That's why I like his life story, nothing like that happens today, but yet it's true facts, it's not a fictional novel.
They don't have to be dictators or evil, they don't have to have people hate them, or get their wife to be butchered up like in Idi Amin's case. Just completely interesting. It doesn't matter if they were born in the 1930's or 1450. Thanks so much. Oh just please not too famous, not hitler or guys you see in movies all the time. But still well known. Women would be cool. One of the greatest Khan books on our bookshelf (there are many, infact) is by Jake Weatherford, and does a great job of showing Khan and his family's full impact on the world.

If you're looking to pick up his family biography where ours leaves off, this is the book for you.

From Publishers Weekly:

Apart from its inapt title, Genghis Khan dies rather early on in this account and many of the battles are led by his numerous offspring. This book is a successful account of the century of turmoil brought to the world by a then little-known nation of itinerant hunters.

In researching this book, Weatherford (Savages and Civilization), a professor of anthropology at Macalaster College, traveled thousands of miles, many on horseback, tracing Genghis Khan's steps into places unseen by Westerners since the khan's death and employing what he calls an "archeology of movement." Weatherford knows the story of the medieval Mongol conquests is gripping enough not to need superfluous embellishments "the personalities and the wars they waged provide plenty of color and suspense."

In just 25 years, in a manner that inspired the blitzkrieg, the Mongols conquered more lands and people than the Romans had in over 400 years. This colorful retelling discusses many of the innovations that marked Khan's rule and contributed to his success.

The ancient city of Multan is known as "The City of Saints" due to the large number of Sufis and shrines belonging to the city. Multan is situated near river Chenab, in Punjab province of Pakistan and is the capital of Multan district. The population of district is about 4 million.

During the famous Mahabharata war Multan was the capital of Trigarta empire. The ancient name of the city was Kashtpur. The recent name (Multan) has originated from the word Mitrasthana. Multan came under Muslim rule in 712 A.D when Muhammad Bin Qasim, at the age of 17, annexed Sindh. Before this annexation a Muslim general Mohlab also conquered Multan in 664 A.D but this capture was not permanent. It also remained a part of Ghaznavid empire, Moughal empire, Durrani empire and the Punjabi empire ruled by Ranjit Singh. After the Anglo-Sikh war the British took over the city. Finally in 1947, upon the independence of Pakistan, it became a part of the Punjab province of Pakistan. Following are a few of the most exciting places of Multan:

Tomb of Shah Rukn-e-Alam: One of the most remarkable shrines in Multan is the tomb of Shah Rukn-e-Alam. The tomb is an architectural marvel from the Pre-Moughal era. Thousands of pilgrims from all over the Sub-continent visit the shrine and pay homage to the saint. The dome of this beautiful building is the second largest in the world. The tomb was built by Ghias-ud-din Toughlak for his own self but after his death his son handed it over to the descendants of Shah Rukn-e-Alam.

Tomb of Yousaf Shah Gardezi:The mausoleum of Yousaf Shah Gardezi is rectangular, domeless and decorated with glazed tiles. Shah Yousaf converted a number of locals to Muslims and according to a legend he arrived in Multan about nine hundred years ago, riding a lion, all the way from Gardez (Afghanistan).

Other Places:Other beautiful places include Sun temple, shrine of Baha-ud-din Zikria Multani, shrine of Musa Pak Shaheed and the Suraj temple.
