Genghis Khan Friends

Genghis Khan Friends

Question: What major historical figure were very skilled in making friends out of enemies?

I know Nixon is a good example, concerning China.

I know Genghis Khan is another.
Who else and any sources citing how they did so in detail if possible?

Answer: Lincoln was great at that. A lot of people hated him, but he was polite and respectful to everyone, and through his speaking and logic he was often able to make people see his side. He was also great with forgiveness (he had a plan to let the Southern states back in if 10% of the citizens took a loyalty oath, a low number which would have made the confederates happy) and had he stayed alive,Reconstruction would have gone better.

Earl Warren, the Chief Justice of the Supreme court in the ’50s was also really good at that. He got a unanimous vote on Brown v. Board of Education by talking to all the other justices.

Question: Why am I born in this era?

I have this desire to kill people without going to jail.
I desire to live somewhere where there is no law, and weapon is the means for justice.

I can’t believe I’m here, an Engineering student, which is far from my dream to become
a warrior and king like Napoleon, Genghis Khan, Alexander the Great, King Leonidas, or some other ninja or greek warrior!
Damn… why do I have to be an Engineer? This is true: I’m always admired in school
for having perfect grades in Calculus, Mechanics, Eng Majors. But what’s the point to all
of this?

WE ARE ALL UNDER THE RULE OF GOVERNMENT AND POLITICIANS!
THEY BECAME THE LAW!
I’M TIRED OF MY LIFE.. AND I CAN’T BELIEVE I’M STILL CHRISTIAN!?!?

Watcha say Pawns?

Answer: With an engineering degree you could go to work for the defense industry in the US. You could design planes, ships, guns, bombs, and other ways to kill literally hundreds of thousands of people! And the cool thing is you don’t get any blood on you! With a gun or knife or something, you’d have to kill them one at a time, then dispose of bodies and all that, it gets messy. But with the US military you can kill whole cities full of people, mostly innocent women and children and old people, and you can pretend you’re saving the world! Plus you get paid pretty good for it.

Question: Who Is Greatest Military Commander in History?

Who Is Greatest Military Commander in History?

Belisarius help recapture the Western Roman Empire for the Byzantines conquering much of North Africa and Italy from the Germanic tribes which defeated Rome. Especially the Vandals.

Subotai had more than 15 campaigns and was the major strategist for Jenghis (Genghis) Khan. He used Mongol Central Asian tactics to great effect against less mobile forces. He is most remembered for devising the battle plan that destroyed the armies of Hungary and Poland within 2 days of each other, by forces almost a thousand miles apart and realized the importance of Chinese techology especially siege machines.

I’m not gonna go into further detail but tell me who’s your fav. military commander and back it up with details

Answer: 1) Patton how far could he have gone given a free hand in france during 1944?

2) Rommel what could he have done had he more than 25% of the force required to win in africa plus his defense of france and the conquest of france.

3) zhukov the defender of russia and did well in the east prior to facing the germans

4) Paul Hausser for his tactical leadership of the II SS Panzer Corps, he restored the sagging front after Stalingrad and Kursk, beating Soviet Armies 7 times his size.

5) napolean master of land and sea warfare egypt and russian were his for a while. He was left chomping on the bit along the English Coast the same as Hitler tho.

6) thomas jackson, for his tactical victories in the Shenandoah Valley and Chancellorsville. He made bobby lee look good and if he was alive, could’ve won at Gettysburg too.

7) macarthur same as napolean but not the size of scale of conquest. A free hand could’ve won the Korean Conflict, either that or a direct confrontation with China…who knows?

8)Moltke first used the practice of mobility with railroads and the use of commanders to figure out the best way to take an objective

9)Sherman author the first demonstation of total warfare with march through the south to atlanta

10)genghis khan able to go from mongolia to europe a large undertaking considering his time. His empire was larger than Hitlers, Alexanders, and the Roman Empire combined.

11) charlemagne last big empire of europe until napolean. Without him, Europe would’ve been overrun by the Moors/Saracens (You’d be praying to Mecca each day).

12)Gauis Julius Caesar, especially for his exploits in Gaul and Britainnia…but the greatest Roman General was Sertorius …the one least interested in politics and therefore the one least mentioned in history. However, like Memnon vs Alexander, his contemporary’s obviously repsected him enough to rarely have a bad word said against him, and it is not often that you have a man so unknown by the public who, and I’m going from memory here, plutarch felt could have, and should have, been the greatest Roman General of his time…..

Question: What could be the new civs and leaders for future Civilization series?

Just like many fans of the Civ series, I can’t wait for Civilization V, whenever it’s coming. What new civilizations and leaders do you think should be included into this game?

To my mind, it would be nice to have Rzecpospolita (or Polish, or Lithuanian culture) and its leaders. And Adolf Hitler should definitely be included as German leader and Tojo as Japanese. After all, it is possible to play as Mao, Stalin, Genghis Khan and other mass killers of human history, so…

Got any more suggestions?

Answer: I like some of the ideas for improved features in Civ 5 suggested in the Civ Fanatics’ Forum, such as:

(1) Developing more than one technology simultaneously.

(2) Working on more than one construction project simultaneously.

(3) Technology diffusion possibility between adjacent civilizations.

(4) More intricate spy capabilities, such as spreading propaganda against an enemy to persuade other civilizations to combat or reduce trade.

(5) Return of colonies, requiring far less maintenance than cities, yet useful for acquiring rare resources or providing a base for espionage on distant civilizations.

(6) Movement bonuses along rivers (at least when going downstream).

(7) More advanced military units (germ warfare, star wars, neutron bomb, suitcase nukes carried by spies).

(8) More leaders & civilizations:

(a) Iroquois, Led by Hiawatha. Organized, adventurous.

(b) Navajo, Led by Manuelito. Artistic, religious.

(c) Arabia, Led by Abu Bakr. Scientific, adventurous.

(d) Persia, Led by Darius. Religious, adventurous.

(e) Celtia, Led by Arthur. Aggressive, artistic.

(f) Huns, led by Attila. Aggressive, adventurous.

(g) Russia, Led by Ivan the Terrible. Organized, scientific.

(h) Bantustan (Bantu peoples; apologies for lumping them together)
Led by Cethswayo. Aggressive, organized.

(i) Songhay, Led by Sunni Ali. Commercial, religious.

Question: Did Atilla the Hun have any connections to Genghis Khan?

I am not familiar with both of these people in history, i donot even know if they met or fought each other also, but since obviously they are Chinese, are they relatives? You will probably tell me they are born in different time zone with each other. So they didnot met personally.

Who is more great between them in terms of conquest and mayhem? Khan or Atilla?

Answer: Where on earth did you get the idea that Attila was Chinese?

Attila the Hun was born in approximately 406 AD to the ruling Hun family, his uncle being the king over the nomadic people that had already reached the out skirts of the Roman Empire in the late 4th century. Not much is known about Attila’s childhood other than he could shoot a bow while straddling a horse, a leg mounted in each stirrup. (The invention of the stirrup gave the Huns the advantage over those they conquered.) Attila was obviously a sly hustler who took advantage of his athletic prowess and his political connections.

As you will notice he was born much after Attila, so there is no physical connection between them but you might say they had the same or similar drive to conquer the world.
