Apostle Paul Verses

Apostle Paul Verses

Question: For Christians only. Do you find fault with the Apostle Paul?

I have noticed that some discredit Paul and make comments about him like: “Paul got it wrong” “He (Paul) just made it up” “Paul screwed it up” “Paul was a false Apostle”
From where do you get these ideas? Please pinpoint where and why his writings are in error.
Paul authored more books of the New Testament than anyone. For a person to disregard his testimony and be at odds with what he has written puts that person opposed to what most major denomination Christian religions teach. I think most accept, implore, teach, and hold his writings in high regard. I see no exterior “earthly”monetary or personal prestige to be gained in accepting Paul’s writings. I do see faith to be gained.
So, where do you see errors in Paul? Please be specific. List chapter and verse if you like.

Answer: I see no errors in Pauls writings.
His writings are letters to the churches already established[epistles]…he is trying to help build up the faith that the apostles preached!
And they were all filled with the Spirit of Truth -JESUS

EDIT—–

From Paul [acts 22]

6″About noon as I came near Damascus, suddenly a bright light from heaven flashed around me. 7I fell to the ground and heard a voice say to me, ‘Saul! Saul! Why do you persecute me?’

8″ ‘Who are you, Lord?’ I asked.

” ‘I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting,’ he replied. 9My companions saw the light, but they did not understand the voice of him who was speaking to me.

10″‘What shall I do, Lord?’ I asked.
“‘Get up,’ the Lord said, ‘and go into Damascus. There you will be told all that you have been assigned to do.’ 11My companions led me by the hand into Damascus, because the brilliance of the light had blinded me.

12″A man named Ananias came to see me. He was a devout observer of the law and highly respected by all the Jews living there. 13He stood beside me and said, ‘Brother Saul, receive your sight!’ And at that very moment I was able to see him.

14″Then he said: ‘The God of our fathers has chosen you to know his will and to see the Righteous One and to hear words from his mouth. 15You will be his witness to all men of what you have seen and heard. 16And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.’

Apostle Paul Single

Apostle Paul Single

Question: Spiritually speaking……To all the Singles Ladies? (Christians)?

LOLs…will u prefer to get married or stay single?

Like in the words of the Apostle Paul … who himself said it is better for any man (unmarried)… not to get married …to remain as they are…. and he thinks he also has the Spirit of Christ… agreeing with that..

Answer: it is no fun staying single for the rest of your life; that may have been fine for Paul, because his full-time job was preaching and working for God. But i am not an apostle, and am therefore not called to live like one, especially since i know that i want to have children and a family.
If my calling was to be a nun or a wandering preacher, then i’d consider going the single route, because my focus would be totally on higher things.
i am not carnal-minded; i just know one of my callings is to me a mother, holding down my family.

Question: Did the Apostle Paul offer sacrifices in the book of Acts or later? I have heard he did, but can’t find it.

If he did, please provide a Scripture reference. Thanks!

Answer: It is not written in the New Testament at all. It is rightfully inferred. How? Jews traditionally under the Law offered sacrifices. Even Jesus did this!!!! He had to keep the law up until his death. Then the New Testament became effective.

Paul said he was a devout Jew (the Book of Acts bears this out) and as such he would have kept the letter of the law which includes sacrifices. AFTER his conversion, there is no reason to assume he continued the tradition of sacrifices.

Apostle Paul Art

Apostle Paul Art

Question: Conversion of Peter, formerly called Satan. Why does it say “when”, about his conversion, not if: Luke 22:32?

Matthew 16:23 (Apostle Peter is called Satan)
But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan:
thou art an offence unto me:
for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

Luke 22:32 (Peter, aka Satan, is told he’ll get converted)
But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not:
and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

2Peter 3: paraphrased:
(Peter admits conversion via Paul’s epistles)
(Peter strengthens brethren with grow in grace)
(For Grace will have mercy, multiplies peace)

Answer: Jesus was a prophet, and as such “knew” the future.

Therefore, it was a certainty that Peter would eventually be converted, so Jesus could use the word “when” with confidence.

Many people say that God transcends time without fully understanding exactly what that means. It means that it is BOTH pre-destination and free-will; it is not one or the other. We have free-will in that we – in the moment – are free to CHOOSE our own destinies, while on the other hand we are pre-destined because God – who is NOT in the moment – already knows the results of our free-will choices.

Thus: While Judas still had the choice of whether or not to “betray” Jesus (and I personally believe that he really didn’t betray him – any more than Peter did with his denials of him; all Judas really did was make it easier for the Pharisees to do what they had already made up their minds to do anyway), he couldn’t NOT betray him because when God had said that he would, he really already HAD chosen to do so.

The same as with Peter’s conversion, which hadn’t yet happened when Jesus used the word “when,” it couldn’t NOT happen the way that it was prophesied, because it already HAD happened to the God for whom all things have already happened.

It is only a matter of our linear time until our FREE-WILL choices coincide with God’s PRE-DESTINATION.

***** ADDENDUM *****

Although “Machine Head” did not answer your question about Jesus’ prediction, he does have a point, because, whereas his statement about the book of 2 Peter is debated, the Gospels themselves are known to have been written well after the time that Jesus lived. Specifically, then, Luke 22:32 could have been written so as to give the impression that Jesus prophesied what was already known – even to men – to have happened, in an effort to make it more believable.

I’m not saying that it was – or even that I think that it was. I am only presenting both sides of the argument to you here.

It is up to you to decide which one to believe.

And although I agree with “Always Praising” that Peter was not called Satan, only that Satan was influencing Peter at the time, in any event you are not going to be held “accountable” for teaching false doctrine – primarily because the Church’s OVERALL doctrine is – BIBLICALLY – just as questionable as is any other.

Apostle Paul Nero

Apostle Paul Nero

Question: Question about Paul’s missionary journeys?

Traditionally, most scholars agree that Paul eventually visited Spain before going back to Jerusalem…..and then onto Rome where he was eventually martryed under Nero.

Romans 15:24 indicates that Paul ‘planned’ to go to Spain…….but doesn’t definately say he was ever there.

My question is:
Do you think the apostle Paul ever made it to Spain on his 4th and final missionary journey?

Just an opinion question here……..thanks,

Primo
I meant to say “some” scholars……not most…..

Sorry about that.

Answer: You’re correct that Scripture implies Paul *may* have gone to Spain, but it doesn’t conclusively state this. However, there are reliable extra-Biblical writings that seem to support the notion that Paul did evangelize there.

1) As far as I know, the only credible surviving document that specifically states Paul visited Spain is ‘The Muratorian Fragment,’ which is dated to about 170 AD. In part, the Fragment reads: “Moreover, the acts of all the apostles were written in one book. For ‘most excellent Theophilus’ Luke compiled the individual events that took place in his presence — as he plainly shows by omitting the martyrdom of Peter as well as the departure of Paul from the city [of Rome] when he journeyed to Spain.”

2) Clement of Rome (who is mentioned at Philippians 4:3b) studied under the Apostles Peter, Paul and John; in fact, Peter himself appointed Clement Bishop of Rome, leading many Catholics to conclude Clement was intended to be Peter’s successor as “first Pope.”

Very little of Clement’s writings remain. However, among those is an Epistle to the Corinthians that reads, in part, as follows:

” … let us come to those champions who lived very near to our time. Let us set before us the noble examples which belong to our generation. By reason of jealousy and envy the greatest and most righteous pillars of the Church were persecuted, and contended even until death. Let us set before our eyes the good Apostles. … By reason of jealousy and strife Paul by his example pointed out the prize of patient endurance. After that he had been seven times in bonds, had been driven into exile, had been stoned, had preached in the East and in the West, he won the noble renown which was the reward of his faith having taught righteousness unto the whole world and having reached the farthest bounds of the West; and when he had borne his testimony before the rulers, so he departed from the world and went unto the holy place having been found a notable pattern of patient endurance.”

As you can see, Clement doesn’t list the countries Paul visited, but his description supports the Muratorian Fragment’s claim that Paul’s evangelization covered a *much* larger geographical area than is recorded within ‘The Acts of the Apostles.’

3) As far as I know, the only other document mentioning Paul journeying to Spain is the heretical scroll ‘The Acts of Peter.’
