Question: Looking for some advice on a topic for my english project? (An Author Study )?

I'm going to be working on an English Project in September that asks me to choose an Author to research, do analysis on pieces of their writing and then compile all the information into a compacted biography type deal. You can either pick a novelist, poet or short story writer OR choose two authors to compare. I'm thinking in maybe comparing Dr. Suess' life stories to another Author who writes about life lessons... but I'm not sure who or whether or not I want to do that at all. Any ideas? Thanks a bunch

Question: What were some of the effects of Julius Caesar's death?

I need to write three articles from a newspaper that would have been written at the time for a school project. In my first two articles, I've already covered Caesar's death and what happened to the conspirators. Any ideas for the third article? this is supposed to take place only a half week after his death so i don't know what to write about... help?
Answer: You could write about the fear and uncertainty that existed in Rome after his death. The fear of the Senate that the common people would revolt (they loved Caesar, the common people), and the fear of the common people (justified) of the coming Civil War.

Question: Comment on thesis for "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland"? (by Lewis Carroll)?

I have a essay-type project due for my high school freshman english class (it's called "Body Biography" because it's supposed to focus on a main character) in about a week, and I am trying to come up with a thesis. I have only been able to put one of my ideas into words that make sense. Here it is: "The huge contrast between Victorian England and Wonderland cause Alice to be seen as self-centered, rather than a normal, well brought-up child." If you could comment on ANYTHING about it, that would be great. Seriously, anything: grammar, clarity, etc. Thank you for any help you can give me!
Answer: This is a really good start and I like the topic. It is argumentative, so that's good. You always want that in a thesis. The main thing that's missing in the thesis is the forecast for your essay. You will want to say "...well brought-up child because of this, this, and this." Add that and you should have a good thesis. Happy writing!

I need some help with my english writing assignment...
Here are the guidelines:
Give your superhero a name. What special skills and talent does he/she possess? Write a short biography of your Superhero telling how his/her amazing powers came to be! Write a newspaper report about a heroic rescue by your Superhero.
I just want to write a special, unique essay, because I'm sure everyone would write stuff about super strength, invisibility, teleporting and all the usual things... any ideas? Thanks

Answer: I always wondered if a superhero could enter into someones body what good could they possibly do? Take over their body and emotions and even get into their mind. Could they stop them from shooting someone, prevent a drunk driver from getting on the road, keep someone from killing themselves? How about stopping a world war?

In Christianity, Paul is the most prominent figure besides Jesus Christ. For, He is most responsible for the spread of Christianity. However, he was once a committed Jew who had an unrelenting ambition to destroy Christians, prior to being blinded by Christ on the road to damascus. So, I was wondering is he like the Judas Iscariot (betrayer) of Judaism?
Answer: Firstly, for SIRIUS - you are not a 'hebrew' because there is no longer any such group. The only 'hebrew' that exists is the hebrew language, spoken in Israel.
TO THE ASKER
- we don't take any view on Paul, he's rarely if ever mentioned. Neither Jesus or Paul play any part in Judaism. That said, those of us, like myself, who are interested in all religions, will of course learn about these historical figures.
Personally, I don't understand why Paul is not hailed as the true founder of Christianity, because he is responsible for the religion as we know it today. Jesus taught Judaism. Paul was the one who developed the Christian faith.

Question: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, essay topic?

I need to do a research on one of the novels we read in school this year. I chose The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. As for a thesis, I was thinking about making a connection between the anti-slavery/ anti-racist views of Mark Twain and how he gets that point across in the book. My main problem is finding some sources. I can use the actual novel itself,as a primary source, but I also must use secondary sources. If any one knows of any books, biographies on Mark Twain, or websites that could help me, I would appreciate it very much. Thank you.
Answer: Research the Abolition movement and Mark Twains involvement in it. You may also want to tie into the Women's suffrage movement and Twains support/rejection of it as women's suffrage and abolition combined forces to gain greater support.

Question: Is it correct that the 12 apostles of Jesus were not the same people whom wrote the Gospels?

A minister taught me this in a class about Christianity. I learned that the Gospels were written at least 60+ years after the death of Jesus by people using pseudonyms. So the original apostles were not the authors. A lot of people think that Paul of Tarsus also was an apostle, which he was not, he never even met Jesus (other than in a vision on the road to Damascus). So in actuality, the Bible was written by people who most likely never saw Jesus. What do you guys think about this?
I have a lot of love for Christians, so I hope no one considers this an attack. I am just curious if most Christians were aware of Bible history. Scholars know that there is a common unfound source that the original Gospels use, but the the Gospel of John did not use this source, and was more a revision of the original 3.
Answer: Yup. It was common during that time to write something and name it after someone important.
So there is author by tradition, author/sources by conjecture and conjectured editor.
Scholars on the subject have come up with various hypothesis for the gospels and the rest of the bible. Q source are sayings of Jesus that are common to both Matthew's and Luke's gospel; most scholars believe that both authors used a common "sayings" gospel, similar to the Gospel of Thomas, which is now lost; other scholars believe that Luke simply copied the sayings he liked out of the Gospel of Matthew

Answer: There is not one book out there that has his life from birth to now. But, two of my favorite books would have to be The Beatles by Bob Spitz. This book gives a detailed look from McCartney's childhood up until his final days with the beatles. The other book is many years from now. This book is comprised from interviews that Paul has given through the years. My favorite part of the book is when he talks about how he wrote the song yesterday.
