Question: Why is it that kids know how to use Yahoo Answers but not the rest of the Internet for homework help?

For example. Why not use dictionary.com for vocab questions? Why not answer history, biography, science, questions by doing a keyword search? Are kids too lazy to search the Internet for themselves, or have these computer wizzes been using computers all these years without learning to do research on the Internet?
It's kind of scary either way. If they're too lazy to take two minutes to find an answer, how will they ever contribute to their own support? If they're too stupid to use the Internet, how will they ever contribute to their own support?
Answer: I agree. With using YA, just how do they know for sure that the correct answer is given? Anyone with decent composition and a good vocabulary could fake them out with a totally erroneous bunch of BS.

Ohio is not one of the most stringent in it's rules and regulations concerning home schooling, however, there are specific guidelines that need to be followed. Unlike some of the other states, it is not required for the home school teacher to have a bachelor's degree. It is, however, necessary to have either a high school diploma or GED certificate. If the parent, or proposed teacher does not have one of these, the home schooling can be supervised by someone with a degree until the parent completes the qualifications to get their own.

The first step in home schooling in Ohio, is to notify the local school district of your intent, and fill out some paper work, which will outline the requirements of each year of schooling. You will be asked to give the name of the child to be home schooled, the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of the parents, the name of the home school teacher, (if different from the parent), and the educational background of the teacher. This paperwork is required at the beginning of each school year. The person responsible for home schooling the child will need to make a list of the intended subjects for the year, as well as a list of the text books that will be used. The actual subjects and the text books are determined by the home school teacher, however, they are subject to approval by the district involved.

The state requires that the home school teacher includes, in their curriculum, specific subjects, including, language, reading, writing, spelling, math, history of the United States, the state of Ohio, local history and government, science, health, physical education, fine arts, including music, and, first aid and fire safety. A total of 900 hours of actual schooling is required for the school year.

These subjects are taught at the discretion of the individual teacher. For instance, music may be piano lessons, or physical education may be any physical activity that the student and family enjoy such as skiing, biking etc. While local schools do not fund home school students in Ohio, many schools will assist the parent with finding text books and other materials. There are also e-schools available to allow students to take classes online.

Home schooling groups in every community provide support and often field trips and social activities. At the end of the academic year, the student is required to be evaluated by a licensed teacher, an accredited home school evaluator, or someone else jointly approved by the parent and the state. These evaluations can consist of testing or presentation of paperwork and reports showing progress in all of the subjects.

If for any reason any of these requirements are neglected, the state and district may refuse application for home schooling for the next year. Many schools, at the senior level will allow the home school student to test into the senior year, if they wish to graduate from their local school. However, most home school students go on to take their GED certification. By and large, this certification and the subsequent college application testing, which is very similar, makes it fairly easy to transition from home schooling to college level.

The ending location will be the Science Museum located at 2500 W. Broad Street, Richmond, Va. Start out by driving out the parking lot and making a left. Now you are on Nine Mile Rd. Keep right and exit on I-64 West. Stay in right lane, keep on I-64 West, take exit 78 (Boulevard). Make a left, drive under the overpass. Make a right at the light(credit union bank is right there also). Make a left at the light (Arthur Ashe building is there also and across the street is a Bill's Barbecue). Now, you are on N. Boulevard. Keep left and make a left turn onto W. Broad Street. The Science Museum will be on your left side.

You have found success in driving to the Science Musuem, now it is time to have fun at your destination. The key to having fun is to keep an open mind. The company that you keep around you can play a huge factor into whether or not you have a good time. The Science Musuem is a family oriented atmosphere. Manufacturers of electric cars are in a rush to develop something that would compel the market into seriously considering the battery-ran automobile in lieu of the gasoline-fed ones. In fact, Tesla (a publicly-listed car manufacturer), has started producing a family car that would eventually replace sedans designed to run 300 miles without having to stop to re-charge its battery.

Initially called as "Model S", the new Tesla "baby" is designed to accommodate seven passengers, or equivalent to one family. "Model S" however would only be available to the public in 2011.

Expensive, but wise buy

Articles posted in the internet however say that the new Tesla battery-ran car would not come in cheap as the unit alone would sound expensive. However, running on a battery-powered car for the use of an entire family for sometime, would eventually translate into economic savings.

The cost of running a battery-ran car is comparatively cheaper in the long run as the pump price of gasoline and diesel fuels appears on an upward trend. Estimates have it that a fully-charged electric car actually costs around five dollars.

What makes electric cars cost efficient is the current trend in the price of crude oil in the world market. Prices are soaring and supplies seemed getting limited as a result of the new trade policies of oil-exporting countries in the middle-east Asia.

Initial calculations show that a family running a battery-ran car can actually save some $ 15,000 per year as compared to using gasoline-fed sedans.

Slice of the market

There is however a brewing rivalry among other car manufacturers, which like Tesla, are also eyeing a share in what appears to be a viable market insofar as the automotive industry is concerned.

Although none of the potential rivals have started producing electric cars that would match that of Tesla"s, these entities, made public announcements on what they are actually working out --- an electric car model that is cost efficient and runs on a maximum of 60 miles per hour.

What even makes it more promising that that it reaches the maximum speed in just five seconds and charging time for its battery would be fully completed in just ten minutes. From there, the car would be able to run for 200 miles. There is however no announcement as to how many passengers can actually fit in their version of the electric car.

The cost: Fifteen thousand pounds

Another car manufacturer, the world renowned Volvo, said that they intend to "revolutionize" electricity-powered vehicles.

According to Volvo, they are closing on to a battery-ran car that is capable of running 60 miles per hour at the maximum. Likewise, they claimed that their version of the electric car would peak its maximum speed in just ten seconds. As to how it would look like, Volvo said that it would be more of a futuristic car with flap up-doors and a transparent roof.

"Futuristic" as it is, it appears that Volvo's version of the electric car would not be as spacious as Tesla is conceptualizing. Their version could actually just be a two seater.

These ideas, although still not in the market, have been conceptualized and designed not just to beat the economic hardships, which include the soaring cost and availability of petroleum products but is also made to help save the environment. GP

Question: Have you heard stories about Western children who have been identified as reincarnations of lamas?

In a book by Lama Surya Das called "Awakening the Buddha Within" I came across this statement on page 26:
"To date, approximately fifteen Western children have been sought out and recognized as lama reincarnations – known as tulkus."
I'm wondering if there are any news articles, stories, biographies, or whatever, about any of these people. What ever became of them? Did they grow up to be lamas? I'm curious if anyone knows some information about them.
And just to be clear: A llama is a furry camel-like creature that you sometimes see on farms, but that's NOT what I'm talking about. A lama is a Tibetan or Mongolian Buddhist monk. Also, I know a lot of you are just itching to tell me how stupid the whole idea of reincarnation is. Don't bother. I don't really believe in reincarnation (but I do keep an open mind on the subject). I'm just curious about the lives of kids who have been identified in this way. What happens to them?

Answer: I think one born in Spain actually got married.
I would be very interested to hear a more detailed answer to this question. One question I have as well: how old are these 'kids' now. Are any grown up yet?
