Question: What image should I get with this tattoo?

I'm going to get a tattoo that says "There is a tide in the affairs of men"
which is a Shakespeare quote from Julius Caesar.
I was wondering what a good picture to get with it is?
I wanted to get a tiger lily tattood underneath it, but it has no connection to the quote really. . .any suggestions?

I've been reading Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare and I need help figuring out who the main characters are. I know Brutus is one of them but I'm not sure if there are more?
Answer: This is a great question, because the identity of the main character in Julius Caesar is far from clear. Here are some of the cases for each of the four protagonists:
Julius Caesar - Well, the play is named after him, and if it wasn't for his egotistical personality, you wouldn't have a play.
Mark Antony - A brilliant orator, he drives the action of the play by delivering an incredibly well-crafted speech to the crowd just after Caesar's murder.
Brutus - A respected Roman who always tries to do the right thing, or at least convinces himself that that's what he is doing. He genuinely hates tyranny and wants democracy in Rome.
Cassius - A manipulative character, Cassius is the one who brings Brutus on board with the conspiracy and convinces him that Caesar must die for the good of Rome.

2. As for your 2nd passage, He's just asking everyone in the audience to listen. He saying he hasn't come to say a whole bunch of nice things about caesar, he's come to bury him. like he's just there speaking at his funeral. Then he goes on to say that basically people only remember the bad things a person has done after they are dead, and all of the good things are buried with them.

Question: What were some of the effects of Julius Caesar's death?

I need to write three articles from a newspaper that would have been written at the time for a school project. In my first two articles, I've already covered Caesar's death and what happened to the conspirators. Any ideas for the third article? this is supposed to take place only a half week after his death so i don't know what to write about... help?
Answer: You could write about the fear and uncertainty that existed in Rome after his death. The fear of the Senate that the common people would revolt (they loved Caesar, the common people), and the fear of the common people (justified) of the coming Civil War.

Answer: Antony and Cleopatra were married in 33. The marriage was illegal under Roman law, but that was no longer relevant: he had severed once and for all his ties with Rome. In an age where few people could read and write, fairly complex ideas could be compressed into simple symbols whose meaning would be clear to everyone. She was Isis, he adopted the guise of Dionysus and their heads appeared together on the coins of both empires. He would acquire land not for Rome but for the revived empire of Alexander the Great.
In the Donation of Alexandria, Antony proclaimed Cleopatra as Queen of Egypt, Cyprus, Libya and Syria. Caesarion, Julius Caesar’s son, was her consort. To the Egyptians this was simply following Ptolemaic tradition: Cleopatra had no surviving brothers so she would share the throne with her son. To everyone else, however, this seemed very much like an attempt to bypass Octavian and have Caesarion take over his father’s empire. The remainder of the eastern portion of the Roman empire was divided among the three children of Antony and Cleopatra. Some of the land so divided had not yet been conquered and the rest of it already had client kings in place so this was a theoretical not a real transfer of power.
No mention was made of Antony’s role in all of this, but no one inside or out of Rome could have had the shadow of a doubt: all the land east of the Adriatic had been severed from the Roman empire, restored to Alexander the Great’s Empire and was Antony’s to dispose of as he saw fit. Answer: Marcus Brutus was a servant and close friend of Julius Caesar, and ultimately, the man in charge of Caesar's assassination. I think you see the betrayal in this.
He, like most of Rome, feared his power, and something needed to be done.
"Et tu, Brute?--Then fall, Caesar." was Caesar's last words, english translation, "And you, Brutus?"
Any other quotes you may find would most likely be from Shakespears' play and not entirely historically true, but that's probably okay.

Question: JULIUS CAESAR - Brutus's soliliquoy?

I'm supposed to paraphrase Brutus's soliliquoy in Act II Scene I of Julius Caesar. It starts at the bottom of pg 18 with "It must be by his death.." and ends with "And kill him in the shell"
but I really don't get what hes saying! Can anyone help me out?
Answer: Brutus says that he doesn't have any personal reason to rise against Caesar but for the general good of rome. The question is how power could change his nature . It's the bright day on which the snake becomes dangerous and needs careful walking. similarly,if we crown Caesar, then we are giving him power, which he may use against us. Greatness is abused when pity is separated from power but i don't know when Caesar's actions were not guided by reasons. But it's a common thing that humbleness is an ambitious person's ladder : the climber looks up at the ladder while climbing it but, once he reaches the top of the ladder, he turns his back on it ,looks up to the clouds,forgetting the path through which he came through . So,Caesar may do the same thing which we may be able to prevent . Since our present action (of rising against Caesar) will not be according to Caesars present condition ,but, based on the extremes of tyranny into which he would run into if he is given power , therefore ,he should be considered as a serpent's egg which when hatched , would become dangerous,and should be killed in it's shell

Question: Conquest of Gaul by Julius Caesar (Penguin Classics Edition) Help!!!?

I have to read this book for school and I've already read half of it. I've always been a good student, but the problem is that I really don't understand what I'm reading. I have to write a 3-5 page paper within the next few weeks and answer a list of really complicated and specific questions. I looked up to see if there was a sparknotes or an online summary/study guide, but I can't find what I'm looking for. The list is so long and confusing that I couldn't even type it out here. Please Help!!!
Answer: At least you are reading it in English. I had to read it in Latin! Itis a description of Julius Caesar's wars against the Gauls, probably compiled from the (self-serving) reports he sent back to the Senate in Rome. Otherwise, I don't know how to help you further, except to suggest that you google for a map of ancient Gaul with the tribal names and place names to see where the campaigns were taking places. Also google those names for more information.
